Do You Often Think About 'What If' or 'If Only' Scenarios?

Sometimes people focus on a host of possible, 'What if scenarios?' and/or ruminate about, 'What could have been, if only...' as they live their life. These scenarios are meant to compel one to take action toward achieving a goal or creating changes. However, 'What if...,' 'If only...' and Rumination are also a signal that some inner work needs to be done, so that one's desires can be realized.

Sometimes without any big announcement or momentous shift, you wake up to discover that change has transpired, seemingly without any effort on your part. While this is transformation is as significant as a transformation that occurs when you consciously create it, it can seem like a miracle as you suddenly see that your self-esteem really does seem intact, or your partner is really helpful after all. You may wonder whether all of your hard work had anything to do with it, or if it simply transpired by way of grace.

People only unknowingly create transformations occasionally. These rare unconscious transformations compel most people to wait for the next unconscious transformation, only to be disappointed more often than not.

Humans often have relatively short attention spans, and easily lose track of time. You may worry about a seedling with constant attention and watering only to find yourself enjoying the blooms it offers and wonder how could it have gone from seedling to blooming in such a short time? Yet, it was two or more months from start to finish.

Nature, on the other hand, has infinite patience and stays with a thing all the way through its life. This does not mean that our efforts play no part in the vicissitudes of change - they do. It is simply that they are one small part of the picture that creates results in the flowering of a plant, the shifting of a relationship, or the softening of one's heart.

The same laws which govern the growth of plants, oversees your internal and external changes. You observe, consider, work and wonder, tilling the soil of your life, planting seeds, and tending them. Sometimes the difficult part is knowing when to actively create change, and when to let go, allowing the passage of natural laws and time to drive the process.

Usually a 'letting go' process transpires by way of distraction or disruption, your attention is called away to something more pressing. And it is often these times, when you are not looking, in the silence of nature's wondrous laws that change transpires. Yet, your active input had as much influence on the process as the natural laws.
